The Hikes
Where we Walk
Walk the trails of the park without the worry of getting lost. The footing in the park ranges from wide trails to single track with some roots and rocks. There are small to medium hills to walk but there is no ladder or hand climbing. Meet at the parking lot on Hospital Rd.

We meet at the parking lot before entering the park and ride together to the south end of the park. This is a sandy trail which leads along the bayfront to the Barnegat Inlet. It is a look back into the history of the barrier island.

Meeting at the Buttermilk Valley entrance to the park we pick one of three ways to climb to the to top of the park and enjoy the sights of NYC, the Ocean and the Navesink River from the historic defensive battery and the Twin Lights Lighthouse
Hike Duration 90-120 min
Park at the north end at the 10 Gun Battery and hike the sandy trail to the end of the hook where you have close-up views of the Verrazano Narrows and Lower Manhattan. Park entry fee required between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
